Two-Start Pitchers (6/10-6/16)

Headlined by Chris Sale, Week 11 has a handful of two-start guys I feel confident locking in in my lineups.  Hyun-Jin Ryu, Charlie Morton, James Paxton, Jose Berrios and Trevor Bauer round out the rest of my must starts.  As far as Bauer goes, I know he has been a completely different guy then what we have seen the last few seasons, but with the Reds and Tigers lined up this week, I think he turns things around.  Now let’s dive into a few other guys who have two nice starts this week.

Joe Musgrove (@ATL, @MIA):

After a couple of terrible starts to end May, Musgrove righted the ship last week with eight strong innings against the Braves.  On Monday the Pirates righty will once again square off with Atlanta before ending the week at Miami.  The Braves lineup hasn’t lived up to the hype in recent weeks, and the Marlins shouldn’t strike much fear into owners thinking of using Musgrove.  Overall I think he is better than what he has shown up to this point.  That, along with his weak schedule this week, has me intrigued.

Shop the 2019 Father's Day Collection at MLBshop.comAnibal Sanchez (@CHW, ARI):

Sanchez has been really effective of late allowing only one run through his last two starts.  In both starts the Nats hurler racked up seven strikeouts while only walking one batter.  Like the last guy we talked about, Sanchez’s first opponent of this week will be the last team he faced, the White Sox.  Finishing up the week he will toe the rubber against the Diamondbacks.  Both opponents are prone to striking out, so I like the 35 year old to keep it going this week.

Sandy Alcantara (STL, PIT):

In three of his past four starts Alcantara has allowed one or fewer runs.  One of those starts was a complete game shutout at home against the Mets in which he fanned eight batters and walked only one.  Last week pithing in Milwaukee the Marlins young righty gave them seven strong innings of one run ball to earn the win.  After a slow start to the year Alcantara has really found his groove.  The Cardinals can be a tough lineup to navigate, but I like his chances with both starts coming at home in Miami.

Spencer Turnbull (@KCR, CLE):

Turnbull has been one of the more consistent players for the Tigers this year, posting a 3.01 ERA through his first 13 starts.  I really like the two matchups here for him, especially the Royals.  The Tigers starter has faced K.C. twice this year, gathering two of his four total wins.  He’s also fanned 17 Royals through 13 innings of work.  While Turnbull won’t provide much if you’re looking for wins due to run support, I think he can help everywhere else.

My fade this week is German Marquez.  It’s pretty simple, both of his starts this week will take place in Coors Field.  Like pretty much all Rockies pitchers his numbers take a hit at home.  I do understand he’s probably a guy most fantasy teams start weekly, he just worries me this week.
