Chris Sale “Flat Out Stinks Right Now”

Chris Sale is a broken, and quite frankly I’m not sure how to fix him. The Sox Ace was shellacked this past Saturday by the Los Angeles Dodgers 11-2 at Fenway Park.

The Sox ace flat out stinks right now, and those aren’t my words, those are directly from his own mouth.

If the Red Sox have any hopes of advancing into the playoffs, or deep into the playoffs, they’ll need Sale and the Sox coaching staff to figure out what’s wrong with the lefty.

2019 MLB All-Star Gear at MLBshop.comOn Saturday, it was the third time Sale failed to go more than five innings in a game this season.  Sale dropped his regular season record to 3-9 in the loss.

The Sox lefty has taken accountability for his poor performance.  "I'm going out there every fifth day and getting my ass kicked," Sale said.  "What do you think?  It's not fun.  I'm still working, still grinding – I'm not going to give up.  But it's tough going out there every day and being a liability for your team.”

While he’s taking accountability for his poor play, it’s time to stop saying what’s wrong and fix it.  It’s time for Red Sox fans to objectively start asking what the hell happened to the left hander that Dave Dombrowski signed to a $150-million dollar extension?

Sox fans, Chris Sale has not won a start at Fenway Park in over a year.  Let that sink in for a second.  Sale needs to stop saying this sucks - we can see that every fifth day when he takes the bump.

The Red Sox acquired Andrew Cashner from the Baltimore Orioles for a pair of minor leaguers.  Cashner is not the answer, he is part of the solution moving forward.  My fear is Sox fans are going to see Cashner’s 9-3 record and lay down bigger expectations for him other than being the fifth starter and then transitioning into the bullpen in the fall.

It’s time for the Red Sox management, Alex Cora, Dana Levangie and Chris Sale to figure out if this is mental, his mechanics, or if he needs a stay on the IL.  Cora’s plan of holding back his starters in the spring hasn’t any done favors for Sale or the rest of the staff to start the season.
