Week 8: Get 'Em In, Get 'Em Out

SHARE:

I told you to bench Kenny Golladay.  Three points.  I told you to bench Alshon Jeffery.  Five points.  I told you to start Michael Thomas AGAINST THE BEARS DEFENSE!  22 points.  My batting average is pretty good.  What I am saying is you need to start listening to me if you're not.  So listen up, because here comes Week 8.

Washington Redskins @ Minnesota Vikings

  • Get 'Em In
    • Terry McLaurin - Last week was the first time all season that McLaurin did not record at least 50 receiving yards, and you can chalk that up to the monsoon the Redskins and 49ers had to play in.  This week is a "revenge" game for Case Keenum, if you want to call it that, and he should look for his favorite wideout often.  The Vikings secondary has gotten exposed a little bit the past few weeks, and you can consider McLaurin's floor to be the eight points he posted against the league's top defense in New England back in Week 5.  He should easily surpass that.
  • Get 'Em Out
    • Kirk Cousins - This is also a "revenge" game for the quarterback in purple in gold.  Cousins has been white-hot the past few weeks with a 10:1 TD:INT ratio the last three games.  Now he looks to get his revenge against his former team and their suspect defense.  It seems all that should line up to a strong outing, but the short week and inferior opponent smells like a Dalvin Cook night to me.  Cousins should be good for roughly 280 and two scores, but don't expect another 36 or 37 point outburst.
Seattle Seahawks @ Atlanta Falcons

  • Get 'Em In
    • Russell Wilson - This may be the quarterback start of the week.  Russell Wilson coming off a tough home loss to the Ravens, now gets the bits and pieces left of what was a promising Atlanta Falcons team.  It blows my mind how Dan Quinn is still the coach, but he is.  Regardless of that though, Wilson should carve this defense up with his feet and through the air giving him a monster day along with a top wideout of his that will remain nameless due to previous rules I have set forth about him in these articles...
  • Get 'Em Out
    • Devonte Freeman - I am starting Freeman this week on my team, but I feel terrible about it.  I am only doing it as I roster Ezekiel Elliott, who is on his bye.  If you can, I would bench him, especially so if Matt Ryan sits and Matt Schaub has to play.  Seattle is already pretty good against the run, but you know damn well if Matt "Pick 6" Schaub is at the helm for Atlanta come Sunday, Seattle will stack that box and force Schaub to try and beat them all game long.

Denver Broncos @ Indianapolis Colts

    • Marlon Mack - The Denver Broncos run defense has been up and down all season, but now coming off three straight games of allowing less than 100 yards on the ground.  That has been a drastic turnaround from their first four games where they gave up over 597 yards on the ground.  Even with their better play of late, the inconsistency they have shown, mixed with what may be the best offensive line in football with the Colts, I like Mack to have himself a strong day.  Back to somewhere over 100 yards and a score should be on the docket Sunday.
  • Get 'Em Out
    • Zach Pascal - Pascal had himself a career day last week as he went for 106 yards and two scores.  Far better than any outing he has ever had.  That was posted against the Texans hapless secondary, who openly admitted that their focus would be completely on TY Hilton.  Well the Colts clearly heard that, saw that, and turned to Pascal.  Pascal clearly has a role in this offense now, but 28 fantasy points from him is a true anomaly.  Again, with what I see as Mack being the head-honcho this week, and Hilton still being far ahead of him in the pecking order of pass catchers, Pascal should crash back down in Week 8.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Tennessee Titans

  • Get 'Em In
    • Ryan Tannehill - I by no means love Ryan Tannehill.  But, with bye weeks and the graveyard the quarterback position has become this year, you could do a lot worse this week.  The Buccaneers secondary leaks like a sieve and the hoover dam isn't being moved to Florida in the near future.  Tannehill should find throwing lanes, and as long as he does not try to play hero ball like the knucklehead at the same position across the sideline, he should serve as a strong fantasy option this week.
  • Get 'Em Out
    • Mike Evans - This is a really tough sit, and there's a good chance you do not have three wide receivers better than him.  And if that's the case you roll with him and pray.  But if you can, you may wanna consider leaving Evans on the sidelines.  Godwin is officially the alpha dog in the Tampa offense and the Titans pass defense continues to be very stingy.  Evans could find his down season dragging on in Nashville.

Arizona Cardinals @ New Orleans Saints

  • Get 'Em In
    • Teddy Bridgewater - As long as Drew Brees does not return this week (and in my opinion he should not with an inferior opponent and a bye week on deck) Bridgewater makes for a very nice play.  Bridgewater has been very consistent since taking over for the injured Brees, and just posted over 20 fantasy points against that vaunted Bears defense in Chicago.  With Kamara coming back from injury, they may not give him his normal workload allowing Bridgewater to have himself a day again in the air.
  • Get 'Em Out
    • Kyler Murray - Kyler Murray has gotten pretty good as the year has gone on.  But so has the Saints defense.  On the road, in the Superdome?  I think this game is one of the speed bumps you always hear rookies hitting.

Cincinnati Bengals @ Los Angeles Rams

  • Get 'Em In
    • LA Rams Defense - The Rams as a whole have been a massive disappointment through seven weeks, but their defense especially.  The acquisition of Jalen Ramsey will of course be some help, but probably will not fix all their issues.  What will fix them is a home game against the lifeless Bengals.  Still winless on the year, the Bengals are beat up and bad.  They have more hurt wide receivers than they do healthy it seems, and their offensive line is going to get Andy Dalton killed.  Aaron Donald salivates in the distance....
  • Get 'Em Out
    • Joe Mixon - Joe Mixon is officially a bust and don't expect him to "bust" out anytime soon.  In shallow leagues Mixon can now be considered droppable, and he should not sniff a fantasy lineup this week.

Philadelphia Eagles @ Buffalo Bills

  • Get 'Em In
    • John Brown - Only two receivers have gotten at least 50 receiving yards in every game this season.  One being the incredible Michael Thomas.  The other though?  None other than John Brown.  Brown has been Mr. Consistent in 2019 and has a legit connection with second year signal caller Josh Allen.  This week Buffalo welcomes the Eagles and their non-existent pass defense to town.  With Philadelphia still having a strong run defense, Allen should look to Brown throughout the game.  50 yards is an easy floor for Brown this week with a ceiling of much much higher.
  • Get 'Em Out
    • Alshon Jeffery - This should be the second straight dud for Jeffery.  A week after getting almost nothing against Dallas, he gets an even harder matchup, as stud corner Tre'Davious White will probably be on his hip the entire game.  White is fresh off of AFC Defensive Player of the Week honors and will look to keep it going against Philly offense that looks lost.

Los Angeles Chargers @ Chicago Bears

  • Get 'Em In
    • David Montgomery - I believe the quote from Matt Nagy went, "I know we need to run the football, I am not stupid."  Are you sure Matt, because you have not exactly looked smart this year.  He is right about needing to run it more, though.  So for one last time, try and trust David Montgomery.  The Chargers have struggled this season because of a slew of injuries, so this game should remain close throughout allowing Chicago to actually run it.  Montgomery got two carries last week.  TWO!  No way that happens again.  Roll the dice with Montgomery and pray Nagy is true to his word.
  • Get 'Em Out
    • Philip Rivers- Surprisingly Rivers fared very well against a tough Titans pass defense last week, posting 329 yards, two scores and no interceptions.  He almost had a third touchdown too, but Ekeler was ruled down at about the half yard line, and we all know what happened after that... Rivers in Chicago is a different bear though.  No pun intended.  With his offensive line filled with holes, the Bears front four should cause problems all day long.  Sit Rivers and sit tight as he gets Green Bay and Oakland next on the schedule.
New York Giants @ Detroit Lions

  • Get 'Em In
    • Matt Stafford -  Stafford is back to not having a running game, something he should be quite used to.  With Kerryon Johnson firmly planted on the IR, and a Giants secondary that is less efficient than if you threw a bunch of parking cones out there, Stafford should have a Field Day on Sunday.  If you have Stafford, get him out there.  And if you have any Lions' receivers, get them out there too.  I am also paying the substantial price for Stafford in any DFS lineups this weekend.
  • Get 'Em Out
    • Daniel Jones -  Jones burst onto the scene back in Week 3 with a 39 point output.  Since then?  He is yet to crack 16 points.  Until Jones has more healthy weapons to throw to and stops throwing picks, he's best left on the bench and/or waiver wire.
New York Jets @ Jacksonville Jaguars

  • Get 'Em In
    • DJ Chark - Chark presented a bit of a dud last week when you consider his opponent was the Bengals.  Three catches for 53 yards left a little to be desired.  But his overall body of work is hard to ignore.  He has never had less than 43 receiving yards and gets five targets a minimum a game.  Against a Jets team that may still be shook from their Monday night beatdown, Chark should rebound nicely.
  • Get 'Em Out
    • Sam Darnold - There is not a chance in hell I am trusting Darnold after last week.  This dude has ghosts around him.  Maybe you risk it, but I won't.

Carolina Panthers @ San Francisco 49ers

  • Get 'Em In
    • Christian McCaffrey - The 49ers have the second best rush defense in the league, but McCaffrey is in the MVP discussion.  You're not benching him.  Don't overthink this.  The offense runs through him - so you play him and just hope his worldly talent lets him break through.
  •  Get 'Em Out
    • Matt Breida -Since Tevin Coleman returned from his ankle injury, he has out-touched Matt Bredia every game.  In those three weeks Coleman has 16, 18, and 20 carries to Breida's 11, 13, and 8.  It's a clear trend that San Fran wants Coleman to be the lead back with Breida being first guy off the bench.  That makes Breida touchdown dependent, and I just hate having to rely on that.

Oakland Raiders @ Houston Texans

  • Get 'Em In
    • Kenny Stills - DeAndre Hopkins is a no brainer, but Stills should be a really strong play this week, and moving forward too.  With Will Fuller once again hurt, it bumps Stills up in the pecking order, and his big play ability always gives him a chance to score.  I like Stills as a WR2 this week against a really bad Raiders defense that just got demoralized by Aaron Rodgers.
  • Get 'Em Out
    • Josh Jacobs - Jacobs has a bad shoulder and may not even play.  If he does he faces a Houston run defense that only let Christian McCaffrey average 3.4 yards a carry and kept him under the century mark.  Things do not appear to be adding up for Jacobs this week.

Cleveland Browns @ New England Patriots

  • Get 'Em In
    • Sony Michel - Michel's overall numbers Monday night were not pretty as he could only muster 42 yards on 19 carries, but he did find the endzone three times.  Sunday's forecast in Foxboro is calling for rain, rain, and more rain.  Running backs should be the focal point of the Patriots offense once again, with Michel getting his fair share of the carries.  It is up to him to do something with them.
  • Get 'Em Out
    • Odell Beckham Jr. - You know how Dr. Evil, AKA Bill Belichick works.  Gilmore will be blanketed on OBJ's hip all game with a safety over the top hovering.  Add that with the weather I mentioned above, it's gonna be a long cold day for Beckham and the Browns.

Green Bay Packers @ Kansas City Chiefs

  • Get 'Em In
    • Aaron Rodgers - Yeah, he is back to his old tricks and MVP ways.  Aaron is back to being an every week lineup staple.  Roll him out and reap the rewards.
  • Get 'Em Out
    • Damien Williams - The month is August.  The year is 2019.  And everyone but one person it seems is riding the Damien Williams hype train.  Some rode him all the way up to a first round pick.  What did you all get when it pulled in the station?  17 points, 7, 6, 8, 2, and an injury smacked right in the middle.  I tried to tell you!!
Miami Dolphins @ Pittsburgh Steelers

  • Get 'Em In
    • JuJu Smith-Schuster -  Yes, JuJu has disappointed.  Yes, he has been hurt by the loss of Big Ben.  But we can't overthink this.  When you see Miami on the schedule, you have to salivate.  Look at it out of context and just strictly JuJu against Miami.  Would you move him to the bench.  Never.  Get him in and hope he feasts like every other opponent has this year.
  • Get 'Em Out
    • Just about everyone else - Seriously.  James Connor?  Fine.  But everyone else sit down.  Don't try and get cute with Mason Rudolph as your quarterback or something.  This game is putrid and even if all parties were healthy, it would still be a terrible matchup for a primetime game.  ESPN should be embarrassed.
