BSS CFB Rankings - Week 11

Another week is in the books for the 2019 College Football Season, and we finally have a real shakeup in the rankings.

The Tigers are who I thought they were, and that is the pound-for-pound #1 College Football team in the BSS rankings.  LSU went in to Tuscaloosa and showed the College Football world they are legit with a very tough hard-fought win against Alabama, keeping their spot and dropping the Crimson Tide out of our top 4.

2.     CLEMSON:

Clemson Tigers gear at Fanatics.comWith ‘Bama losing to LSU, the Clemson Tigers move up in the ranking and grab the #2 spot.  And with a very dominant win against NC State it keeps their name in the running as being a playoff team.  But having a very beneficial schedule and being the defending champions is the only reason they are holding as a top-four team.  It is very thin and they could be in danger if they fall in any of their remaining games.

3.     OHIO STATE:

By staying undefeated with a very dominant win against Maryland, and another team benefiting from ‘Bama losing to LSU, the Buckeyes place as the #3 team in our ranking.  But with two big games against Penn State (11/23) and Michigan (11/30), and a potential Big Ten Championship matchup with fellow undefeated Minnesota on the horizon, anything can happen.

4.     BAYLOR:

Being the only undefeated team in the Big XII, and having a win against Kansas State, who defeated Oklahoma, places the Bears as the #4 team in the ranking.  But with the Big Game against the Sooners on the slate for this week, “Da Bears” have a very valid chance on making it to the Playoffs.

Teams To Watch:

The Tide and The Bulldogs are both one loss SEC teams who can be mentioned as being a College Football Playoff team.  With ‘Bama still having Auburn (11/30) on their schedule, they need a lot of help from LSU’s remaining opponents, and from any top four team falling to have a chance to be in the Playoffs.  For the Bulldogs, their chances are a little better for a guaranteed shoo-in.  They need to win out and then win the SEC Title, which on paper sounds possible, but with LSU literally the best team in the country it’s will be a hard round ahead.

The Sooners are still a team to watch, even after a nail-biter of a win against Iowa St this past week.  With a big matchup against Baylor on deck for this week, the outcome of that game could potentially crown the BIG XII Champion.  It’s something to watch this week.

With the loss to Auburn as their only blemish the Ducks have a chance at being one of the final four in the Playoffs.  But they will need some help, especially from Auburn if the Tigers can defeat Georgia, ‘Bama and then Clemson.  If Baylor or Oklahoma both suffer a loss then the Pac 12 could earn their spot in the Playoffs.  But as this season shows, anything can happen.
