BSS CFB Rankings - Week 13

Another week is in the books and the playoff picture is starting to fill itself out.

1.     LSU:

LSU is still the pound-for-pound #1 college football team in the BSS rankings.  The Tigers had a very dominant win against Arkansas allowing them to clinch a spot in SEC Championship game against Georgia.  But with a matchup against Texas A & M on deck for this week, the Tigers need to put the SEC Title Game on hold to keep their chance of as spot in the CFP four.

2.     OHIO STATE:

Shop for NCAA Fan Gear at Fanatics.comStill being undefeated with a very impressive win against Penn State allows The Buckeyes to move up to #2 team in our ranking, but with THE BIG GAME against Michigan and a potential Big Ten Championship matchup with Minnesota or Wisconsin on the horizon, anything can happen that can spoil their playoff hopes.

3.     CLEMSON:

Having a bye week keeps the Tigers as one of the shoe-in CFP 4 teams, but it places them one spot down after Ohio State’s impressive win against Penn State.  However, with a matchup against South Carolina this week, and an ACC Championship Game against either Virginia Tech or Virginia, they are still in danger of being left out if they fall in any of their remaining games.

4.     OKLAHOMA:

The Sooners are still on the wagon as the team to beat in the Big XII, and having a very close win against TCU keeps them in place as the #4 team in the BSS rankings.  But with a matchup against Oklahoma State on the slate for this week, and a rematch with Baylor in the Big XII title game in the following week, like the other teams they are in danger if they fall to be left out of the playoffs.

Teams To Watch:

The Bulldogs still have the same story.  They have a guaranteed shoe-in if they just beat Georgia Tech and then win the SEC Title Game and they are a guaranteed CFP 4.

The Golden Gophers are one game away from Big Ten Championship.  With a big matchup against Wisconsin on deck, that will crown who is representing the west in the BIG TEN Championship against Ohio State.  For the Gophers, though, if they can win then their resume will basically write itself for them to earn a CFP 4 Spot.

It’s the same as last week for the Rolling Tide.  They are a one-loss SEC Team who can put their name in as being a CFP team by winning their matchup with Auburn this week and getting help from the remaining one-loss teams to lose to punch their ticket to be in the CFP Playoff.
