Week 16: Get 'Em In, Get 'Em Out

SHARE:

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls.  We have made it.  Week 16.  Fantasy Football Championship.  I hope you have made it and I hope I have had a part in that.  I too stand on the precipice of a Championship, which would be my second straight.  Let's have a read and win the whole damn thing together.

Houston Texans @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers
  • Get 'Em In
    • Will Fuller -  DeAndre Hopkins is the obvious answer with arguably his best matchup of the year.  Besides him though, this looks like a patented Will Fuller explosion game.  He is good for a couple a year, and he has only had one and that was Week 5 when he scored an absurd 53 points.  Well, he is running out of time to have another explosion.  The Bucs offer the best chance he has left to have another.
  • Get 'Em Out
    • Carlos Hyde - For the first time since Week 6, Carlos Hyde shockingly reached the 100 yard mark on the ground last week against Tennessee.  This being a ground game or not because of weather, I don't love his chances of that happening again.  Tampa continues to be a Top 5 run defense, and Houston should have no issue moving the ball via Deshaun Watson and not having to rely on Hyde in a poor matchup.

Buffalo Bills @ New England Patriots

  • Get 'Em In
    • James White - The last time these two teams faced off, there was almost no offensive fantasy relevant players, and that may very well happen again.  But if I had to risk someone, it would be James White as a Flex Play.  This once again is looking to be a down and dirty, low scoring, win in the trenches kind of game.  Brady will be looking to get that ball out fast and find the rhythm he never found back in Week 4.  I feel White could be that beneficiary, especially with Julian Edelman beat up.
  • Get 'Em Out
    • Josh Allen - Josh Allen has been the model of consistency throughout this year's campaign.  He has scored at least 20 fantasy points in 10 of his 14 games.  And the four he didn't, there were only two real clunkers.  Against Baltimore, and against New England.  Top teams still give him problems, and it's near impossible to trust him to win your Fantasy Championship when he's on the road, in New England, in December.

Los Angeles Rams @ San Francisco 49ers

  •  Get 'Em In
    • Jimmy Garoppolo - Last week's clunker against Atlanta dropped San Fran from the number one seed all the way down to the five.  San Fran needs to win out to get back to the coveted potential top seed and Division Title.  Last week also saw the Rams hopes of the postseason all but get trounced.  So you have a hungry team, versus a defeated team.  I think you will see more of the Niner team you saw down in New Orleans two weeks ago, and more of the LA team you saw in Dallas last weekend.  Trust Jimmy G in your fantasy championship.
  • Get 'Em Out
    • Jared Goff - Back in Week 6, when these two teams first squared off, you know how many fantasy points Jared Goff put up?  Two. Two points.  Do you know how hard that is to do at the quarterback position?  Now he has an injured thumb after hitting it on a helmet last week, which won't help.  You can clearly expect more than two points, but not too many more.  Unless your league goes to Week 17 when LA faces the Cardinals, Goff can be dropped.

Cincinnati Bengals @ Miami Dolphins

  • Get 'Em In
    • Ryan Fitzpatrick - You wanna get nuts?  Let's get nuts.  FANTASY CHAMPIONSHIP GAME.  AND YOU'RE PLAYING RYAN FITZPATRICK!  Listen, Fitzpatrick has scored at least 25 fantasy points three out of the last four weeks, and now it's the one win Bengals.  I know how hard it is to trust a guy like Fitzy with so much at stake, but no risk, no reward.  The idea of telling people you won your league with Fitzpatrick as your quarterback sure sounds amazing, doesn't it?
  • Get 'Em Out
    • Patrick Laird - The Dolphins run game has been so bad that Ryan Fitzpatrick is actually the leading rusher on their team.  While on paper you would think anyone can have success against the Bengals, the Dolphins are not just anyone.  Patrick Laird has become the de-facto starting back, but he is still sharing carries almost equally with Myles Gaskin.  The timeshare and lack of success, even against a feeble opponent like the Bengals, makes me very weary about trusting him.

Pittsburgh Steelers @ New York Jets

  • Get 'Em In
    • James Washington - I like the idea of Washington being a good dart throw this week.  I know that's not exactly the mindset you want during Championship week, but if you're in a bind it's a plus matchup.  Even more so if JuJu sits out again.  Washington saw a team high 11 targets last week against a tough Bills defense.  Things ease up this week with the Jets.  One thing to note is still the Jets possess a top 10 run defense, which could make things difficult for James Conner on the ground.  I think you can do a lot worse than Washington as a Flex play this week.
  • Get 'Em Out
    • Robby Anderson - As mentioned last week, Robbie's hot streak would be coming to an end.  He saw his point outputs of 18, 17, and 24, get cut down to 12.  Pittsburgh continues to be stingy against opposing wideouts, specifically on the outside.  Robby always has that homerun threat, but it's too risky for me with a championship on the line.
New York Giants @ Washington Redskins

  • Get 'Em In
    • Terry McLaurin - It appears Dwayne Haskins finally woke up and realized Terry McLaurin is his only way to some sort of success.  McLaurin is coming off back-to-back weeks in which he scored a touchdown and exploded for 130 yards last week.  Against a lifeless Giants team, McLaurin should stay hot at the perfect time.
  • Get 'Em Out
    • Golden Tate - Tate is just not catching passes.  Two straight weeks he has caught a one single pass and the game before that, only three.  Yes, last week's one catch went 50 yards to the house, but that was it.  And if he never breaks loose, it's a dreadful fantasy day. Even with the plus matchup, I don't like his chances of randomly blowing up.

Carolina Panthers @ Indianapolis Colts

  • Get 'Em In
    • Marlon Mack - Mack is a no-brainer play this week regardless of how pathetic he and the entire Colts team looked last week.  That game was in the Superdome though, and this is not.  This game is at home against the worst rush defense in the league.  Even with the Colts eliminated from playoff contention you have to roll Mack out as a RB2 with a RB1 ceiling.
  • Get 'Em Out
    • DJ Moore/Curtis Samuel - This is one of my patented "you're not actually benching him, but be wary."  Panthers have turned to rookie quarterback Will Grier, who I loved coming out of college, but looked completely lost in the pre-season.  The Panthers are right to spend these last two games seeing what they have in Grier, but that makes his wideouts incredibly difficult to trust.  I would probably still start DJ Moore with tempered expectations, but keep Samuel on the sidelines.

Baltimore Ravens @ Cleveland Browns

  • Get 'Em In
    • Lamar Jackson - It blows my mind that the Ravens lost to the Browns at home earlier in the year.  No way they lose to them again.  The Browns are a complete mess from top to bottom and just allowed Kyler Murray to have his most successful day in a month.  If they had issues with Murray, they are going to have big, big problems with Lamar come Sunday.
  • Get 'Em Out
    • Odell Beckham - BUST ALERT.  Can you believe Beckham has two touchdowns all year?  Just a terrible year all around in Cleveland.  Back in the first matchup with Baltimore he grabbed two balls for 20 yards and Baltimore is just playing on another level compared to all other teams.  Shy away.

Jacksonville Jaguars @ Atlanta Falcons

  • Get 'Em In
    • Devonta Freeman - Two weeks ago we talked about how Freeman had not scored a rushing touchdown all season, but had a good chance against the porous Panthers run defense.  I was right.  Well, Jacksonville is right up there with Carolina with bad run defenses.  Against Carolina Freeman scored for the first time all year.  Maybe with Jacksonville he can hit the century mark for the first time.
  • Get 'Em Out
    • DeDe Westbrook - Westbrook had a prime time to shine last week at Oakland with DJ Chark out, and all he could muster was two catches for 14 yards.  Chark is now on track to return this week, which just hinders Westbrook's potential even more.  Always a chance he can be a PPR stud on a given week, but if you can't exploit Oakland, who can you?

New Orleans @ Tennessee Titans

  • Get 'Em In
    • Jared Cook - You really can't call this a revenge game, as it's been seven years since Cook played in Tennessee.  But it is where his career started which may give him a slight boost.  Besides that, against the tight end position specifically, the Titans are a bottom 10 unit.  Cook should have a good shot at a handful of catches and a trip to the endzone.
    • Ryan Tannehill - Congratulations to everyone who rode Ryan Tannehill to the championship game.  I myself did and I am as shocked as you are. But it's time to get off that Tannehill Train.  The matchup is not bad, but it's also not great.  For me it's just one of those funny feeling games that has the Titans feeling down after losing at home to Houston last week.  I think Tannehill is more in line for something along 220 yards and a pick, and I need better than that this week.

Oakland Raiders @ Los Angeles Chargers

  • Get 'Em In
    • Mike Williams - The earlier matchup these two teams had ended up being a dud for everyone besides Melvin Gordon.  This time around should be different for a couple reason.  One being Oakland is absolutely deflated after losing their final home game ever at the Coliseum last week.  The other is this may very well be Philip Rivers last start in front of his home fans (all 12 of them).  I THINK you could trust Philip Rivers one last time for a big game, and a lot of that big game should be in thanks to Mike Williams.  Williams is on a bit of a hot streak with three straight double digit games and two straight with a score.  The Chargers would be wise to keep feeding the big man against a down and out Raiders squad.
  • Get 'Em Out
    • Tyrell Williams - I feel like I have mentioned Tyrell Williams as a Get 'Em Out for a month straight now, but when you're right you're right.  Williams finally scored last week, but he only had two catches giving him 12 fantasy points.  Twelve is his high since all the way back in Week 8.  Meh.

Detroit Lions @ Denver Broncos
2019 NHL All-Star Jerseys

  •  Get 'Em In
    • Courtland Sutton - Sutton gets his best matchup of the year at the best time.  I am absolutely playing Sutton in the Championship game with the hopes of an explosion.  The Lions were absolutely thrashed in the air last week against Tampa which saw them give up nearly 300 passing yards - IN THE FIRST QUARTER!  There is no way you don't play Sutton this week.
  • Get 'Em Out
    • Kenny Golladay - What could have been with Kenny Golladay this year.  Half way through the season he was leading the NFL in touchdown receptions then Stafford went out with his back injury.  Golladay is a budding superstar, and a legit WR1 that you NEED to bench in your Championship.  It pains me to do this, but there is little to no reason to play him.  David Blough could not get him the ball against Tampa's useless defense, so not sure how you can expect him to on the road in Denver with Chris Harris following Golladay around all game.

Arizona Cardinals @ Seattle Seahawks

  • Get 'Em In
    • Seattle Offensive Skill players - Russell Wilson, Tyler Lockett, Chris Carson, DK Metcalf, Jacob Hollister.  Any of them.  Roll them out.
  • Get 'Em Out
    • Kenyan Drake - 22 carries, 137 yards, and FOUR TOUCHDOWNS.  Where in that world did that come from?  You can run against Seattle, but the issue is going to be the Cardinals will probably be trailing this game and 22 carries will be far from attainable.  Game flow folks.  Always think of game flow.

Dallas Cowboys @ Philadelphia Eagles

  • Get 'Em In
    • Zach Ertz - Eagles remain depleted at the wideout position and Zach Ertz remains option A, B, and C.  Couple that with the fact Dallas struggles mightily (26th ranked) against opposing tight ends.  Ertz has the chance to bang on the door of being the top tight end this week.
  • Get 'Em Out
    • Dak Prescott - It's no secret, Dak is hurt.  And it's his throwing shoulder that is hurt.  AC Joint sprain to be exact.  Listening to players who have had the injury, the common theme is they could not imagine throwing with that injury.  Dak is a warrior, and I love him for that, but if Dallas is going to win this game and division it is going to have to be done with Zeke's legs.  #FeedZeke

Kansas City Chiefs @ Chicago Bears

  • Get 'Em In
    • Anthony Miller - Sometimes you just have to ride the hot hand.  For the second time in three games, Miller saw double digit targets and pulled in nine catches.  In a game that Chicago is going to have to throw the ball, that volume could very well be there again.  Trust Miller as a great Flex play or WR3.
  • Get 'Em Out
    • David Montgomery - Montgomery managed a measly 39 yards last weekend against a pour Packers run defense and has not seen the century mark in two months.  If the Bears are forced to abandon the run game because of potentially falling behind fast, Montgomery loses any fantasy relevance.  There is a good chance that happens.

Green Bay Packers @ Minnesota Vikings

  • Get 'Em In
    • Davante Adams - I doubt I need to tell you to play a stud like Adams, but I do feel like I need to tell you how bad the Vikings defense has become this year.  In the last nine games they have only allowed to teams to not reach 300 total yards.  Those teams were the Redskins and the Lions.  Everyone else is having a field day against them, specifically their secondary.  Adams ends your fantasy season in a great position to post a strong stat line.
  • Get 'Em Out
    • Kyle Rudolph - Rudolph hit a fantastic hot streak from Weeks 9 - 13 but has cooled right back off the last two with a combined total of 10 fantasy points.  Back in Week 2 against Green Bay, albeit a long time ago, Rudolph was really quiet with three catches for nine yards.  Even during his hot streak his volume was low and basically scored high totals by catching touchdowns.  He remains very touchdown dependent and not something you want to bank on with your Fantasy Championship hanging in the balance.

Merry Christmas!
