Antonio Brown Only Wants to Play With Tom Brady

Antonio Brown wants to play in the NFL next season, but under one condition. He wants to only play with Tom Brady.  After the Patriots loss to the Titans in the playoffs on Saturday, Brown tweeted “2020 only want to play with Tom Brady or no play.”  He also tweeted a video of the future Hall of Fame QB’s press conference after the game urging Brady to call him.

Brown played only one game for the Patriots last season.  He played in a game against the Miami Dolphins where he had four receptions on eight targets for 56 yards and one touchdown.  Brown was released after one game following allegations of sexual assault and rape against him.  Brown has been trying to get back into the league since his release, but teams have balked on signing the All-Pro due to the uncertainty of being placed on the Commissioner’s Exemption list.  Brown did work out for the New Orleans Saints at the end of the season in late December.  The Saints did not sign the wideout.

Shop for 2018 NFL Jerseys at NFLShop.comBrown played for the Pittsburgh Steelers from 2010-2018, where he went to seven Pro Bowls and made four All-Pro teams.  Brown was traded to the Raiders, who ended up cutting him prior to the start of the 2019 season.  Brown would go on to sign with the Patriots a few days after his release.

Brown had a tumultuous time with the Raiders leading up to his release from the team.  On March 13th, the Steelers traded Brown to the Raiders for a third and fifth round draft picks and signed the wideout to a three year $30.25 million dollar extension.

On July 25th, Brown would show up to training camp with frostbite on the bottom of both of his feet due to a cryotherapy mishap.  Brown failed to wear the proper footwear while inside the chamber resulting in the frostbite.  While nursing the frostbite, Brown had a dispute with the NFL over his helmet.  The NFL banned his 10-year old Schutt helmet for safety reasons.

Almost a month later, Brown would leave the Raiders training facility on August 18th, and the team would fine him $40,000.  Raiders General Manager Mike Mayock would call out Brown, stating the receiver needs to be “all-in, or all-out.”

Brown would go on to lose his grievances with the NFL over the helmet and his woes with the Raiders would continue.  Brown posted on Instagram a letter from Mayock reading his fine from the Raiders.  Brown would caption the post “when your own team want to hate.”

On September 5th, news reports began to break that the Raiders were going to suspend Brown for conduct detrimental to the team.  "Antonio Brown's not in the building today; he won't be practicing," Mayock said.  "I don't have any more information for you right now, and when I have some and it becomes appropriate, you guys all get it.  I promise you.  But that's it for today."

The Raiders, on September 7th would go on to fine Brown for conduct detrimental to the team, which resulted in the team voiding his contract and allowing him to be a free agent.  Two days later the Patriots would sign Brown to a one-year deal that included a $9 million dollar signing bonus.  The singing bonus was to be paid in two installments, $5 million on September 23rd, and $4 million on January 15th.

On September 20th, the Patriots released Brown, releasing a statement that would read, "We appreciate the hard work of many people over the past 11 days, but we feel that it is best to move in a different direction at this time.”  Patriots’ owner Robert Kraft has stated he will not pay out the bonus due to Brown’s off-field issues surrounding the allegations connected with him.

Will Brown and Brady reunite next season?  That will only happen if the Patriots QB leaves via free agency and Brown follows him to another city because Brown will not be returning to Foxboro.
