James's 2020 Patriots Mock NFL Draft: Rounds 6 & 7

SHARE:

Part One of My Patriot Draft Big Board is in the books, where i released my picks through Round 1-5.  Now here is part two, where I will go through final rounds 6 & 7.

--------

RD    PICK#      PLAYER       POSITION

5.       172           Tanner Muse          S

HEIGHT: 6’2” WEIGHT: 210 lbs COLLEGE: Clemson

Coach Belichick turns into Dr. Frankenstein and takes a safety who he will turn into an outside linebacker.  Tanner is a safety who has linebacker tendencies.  Muse will likely be placed into a full-time linebacker role, with his linebacker size and frame.  His ability to cover tight ends and handle special teams duties will improve his chances of being drafted to the Patriots.

6.       195         Colby Parkinson     TE

HEIGHT: 6’6” WEIGHT: 249 lbs
COLLEGE: Stanford

No, this is not the year 2010, but the Patriots will take two tight ends in this year draft.  Not only is he a tight end, but he's also a big receiver who can be released into routes in the slot.  He runs well for a pass-catching tight end and has the athletic traits to attack on all three levels.  He's almost automatic on the easy catches and has ball skills to rescue some of the harder ones.  Parkinson is the new hybrid tight end with above-average playmaking ability down the field and near the goal line.

NFL Player Comparison: George Kittle

6.      205     Rodrigo Blankenship     K

HEIGHT: 6’1” WEIGHT: 191 lbs COLLEGE: Georgia

With the Stephen Gostkowski era now over in New England, it is time for the future, and Rodrigo Blankenship is that man.  Rodrigo is a charismatic kicker and college fan favorite.  His thick, black-rimmed glasses has become his trademark, and so are his booming 50-yard field goals with even more yards leftover.  Blankenship rarely misses, so he should have the consistency needed in the NFL.  He should be the first kicker off the board.

NFL Player Comparison: Jason Elam

6.       212            Jordan Mack            LB

HEIGHT: 6’2” WEIGHT: 210 lbs COLLEGE: Virgina

Coach Bill loves his linebackers and will in this year draft.  Jordan is a linebacker with good instincts and production as a four-year starter in college.  He lacks the size and pop at the point of attack, but he has good speed as a run-and-chase outside linebacker in a four man front.  His athleticism is just average and plays with good energy and decisiveness, which shows in his consistent play against the run.  There are questions marks in his game that can be fixed with the right coaching.

NFL Player Comparison: Luke Kuechly

6.        213            Cale Garrett             LB

HEIGHT: 6’2” WEIGHT: 210 lbs COLLEGE: Missouri

What you lose in free agency you can gain in the draft.  Cale plays a professional brand of football.  Garrett is to able to disrupt blocking schemes, and gets early downhill to eliminate blocks.  He's both mentally and physically strong.  But he does lacks the length, speed and agility teams typically looked for in starting linebackers,  But with that being said, his tape could end up pushing him up draft boards a full round.

NFL Player Comparison: Kentrell Brothers

7.        230          Joe Gaziano                DL

HEIGHT: 6’4” WEIGHT: 275 lbs COLLEGE: Northwestern

The Massachusetts native could be the steal in the draft.  Gaziano is a high level worker with the nose for football.  His determination until the whistle is more responsible for his success.  He's neither quick nor explosive, but he's very instinctive and has an above-average understanding of blocking scheme and play development.  He's become a very impactful college player, and could do the same in the pro level.

NFL Player Comparison: Chris Long
