Red Sox Dream Teams III

I don’t know about you, but I am absolutely over the fact we have no Red Sox baseball.  This whole lack of sports is testing everyone’s resolve, but we are here for you at Boston Sports Syndicate.  I am throwing my hat in the ring and breaking down my favorite Red Sox players of my lifetime.  I hope you enjoy this and each player brings you down that crazy rabbit hole known as memory lane.

Now I know what some will say, where is Ted Williams or Carlton Fisk?  That is a great question, but I wasn’t alive to appreciate what they did for Boston sports during their time in Boston.  There is no right or wrong answers with this roster, because as Red Sox fans each one of these players hold a special place in our sports hearts.

There are players that I wanted to add to the list, players like former first baseman Mike Stanley who I have an immense respect on how he played the game; World Series MVP Mike Lowell, who was a thrown in player in the Josh Beckett trade; or even the Mo Vaughn, who wore number 42 in honor of Jackie Robinson and was one of the true power hitters during his time in Boston.

It was hard leaving Roger Clemens off this list, but my stubbornness is just taking over and not allowing him to be part of this squad.  The way he left, going to the Yankees later in his career really bothers me.  Now, people will say you have Johnny Damon on the roster and he did the same thing.  Well, you are very valid in the assessment.  However, Damon won a World Series with the Red Sox and he was clutch at Yankee Stadium in the 2004 ALCS against the Yankees.

The Red Sox have had a nice mix of players during the last twenty years or so that have allowed us memories good and bad.  While my favorite all-time Red Sox team was the one in 2004 because they broke the curse, I look forward to the next run of Red Sox teams to bring us the same memories in Boston sports lore.
