Week 8 Fantasy Football Shark Tank

On last week’s installation of Fantasy Football Shark Tank, the Shark down right nailed it.  Invested with confidence in a breakout game for Tony Gibson and he ran for over 120 yards and scored a touchdown.  JuJu Smith-Schuster has been slumping, but Week 7 was good for Mr. Smith-Schuster.  Good thing the Shark did not invest anything in the notion JuJu’s struggles would continue.  This week on Fantasy Football Shark Tank we will be hearing about two Philly Eagles.  One bad and one good.

Boston Scott (ECR # 10) is the Bust of the Week in PPR Leagues

With Miles Sanders set to miss his second consecutive game due to a knee injury, Boston Scott will be the RB 2 on many fantasy rosters.  Last week he scored 17 PPR points and finished as the RB 10 in Week 7.   And this week, Scott will face off against the dream matchup…the Dallas Cowboys.  Dallas has not been able to stop running backs this year and has given up more than 350 rushing yards in just the last two weeks alone.

Hearing this will make you want to lock Boston Scott in all your lineups, but not so fast.  Scott has been very reliant on receiving yards to be fantasy relevant.  Scott has only run 3.4 yards a carry this season.  He has not been an effective runner of the football.  Scott’s only strong performance (last week) came when he racked up 43 receiving yards with a touchdown.  Scott is skilled in the passing game but Dallas, oddly enough, is very good against stopping opposing running backs to catch the ball.  When you mix the lack of receiving yards opposing running backs have against Dem Boys, the ineffective running game of Boston Scott, and the Eagles using other backs at the goal line, look for the Eagle’s “primary” back to severely underperform this week.

The Dallas Cowboys’ run defense has been a joke so far in 2020, and just last week investing in a proposition against them was the right call.  Having said that, Boston Scott’s rushing numbers have been less than stellar all year.  And remember, Scott has been the primary back for the Eagles before.  He was the starter in Week 1 and did not make the best of that opportunity.  It is a very bold proposal given the run D of Dallas, but I WILL invest with 52% confidence.

Travis Fulgham Outscores Tyreek Hill in Week 8

What!??!? In what world will Travis Fulgham outperform and outscore Tyreek Hill?  Well, this world, because in Week 8 Fulgham is going to be the choice of the two wide receivers.  With all the injuries to the Philadelphia Eagles offense they called upon unheralded Travis Fulgham to catch balls from Carson Wentz.  Since Week 4, when he made his Eagles debut, Fulgham has scored over 12 PPR points every week.  In the past three weeks, Fulgham has gotten 13, 10, 11 targets.  Getting volume like that rivals some of the most alpha receivers in the league.

When you take a dive into Travis Fulgham’s athletic profile, you will find out that this unlikely breakout is not a fluke.  Oh! And look who he will be facing off with this Sunday Night?  It is the putrid Dallas Cowboys' defense.  The Cowboys will enter Sunday’s contest with the 27th ranked defense against wide receivers in the NFL.

Tyreek Hill does not have a bad matchup this week.  The Kansas City Chiefs face off against the New York Jets.  The matchup is not a difficult one, but the volume may not be there for Hill.  I know what you are thinking, and you’re right.  It only takes a couple for Tyreek Hill to make his day, but he may need more than one big play to outscore Travis Fulgham.

So far in 2020 Tyreek is seeing his fewest targets per game of his career, 6.3.  The Chiefs should not have any difficulty against the Jets so it's easy to see a revenge filled second half for Le’Veon Bell.  In a game where the Eagles need a win, I will take the quantity over the quality.  Fulgham’s volume will be too great and that is why he will score more PPR fantasy points than Tyreek Hill in Week 8.

Jalen Reagor is looking like he is going to return for this weekend’s Week 8 matchup.  The 2020 first round draft selection could instantly become the Eagles’ number 1 receiver given his talent level.  His return could be troublesome for the emerging fantasy star Travis Fulgham, but I do not think that will be the case.  Gimme all the volume TF will be getting.  I will invest in this with 85% confidence.

So, there you have it.  Sounds like you should load up on any Travis Fulgham you may roster in fantasy football and not rely so heavily on Boston Scott.  Either way, tune in to this Sunday’s Eagles v Cowboys matchup to see if the Shark is right and, as always tune, in to next week’s episode of the Fantasy Football Shark Tank.
