Week 11 Fantasy Football Shark Tank

Last week our Fantasy Football Shark did not do well with his investments.  For those who are new to our show, the shark is me.  I am also the one making the player proposal…it is a fun show.  Leonard Fournette fell flat.  I mean a Tampa Bay running back did go off so maybe the process was correct, but it sure was not Mr. Fournette.  The Buccaneers back wasn’t the only awful investment.  Jared Goff was a complete bust in his dream matchup against the Seattle Seahawks.  Not only did he not perform as a Top 5 QB, but he didn’t even finish as a Top 15 quarterback.  Let’s hope this week the Shark makes better investment choices.  This week’s episode will feature another former number one overall pick and a Jaguar looking feast this weekend.

Jamesis Winston Is a Top 8 QB in Week 11

Drew Brees suffered a really bad rib injury this past Sunday and it is looking like he will be sidelined for up to a month.  Jameis Winston was brought to New Orleans to be the backup and now it is looking like he will have a chance to be the starter going forward.  And he is looking at the best matchup for quarterbacks.  The Atlanta Falcons are the only defense that is worse against QB’s than the awful Seattle Seahawks squad.  Matter of fact, Drew Lock faced off against the Falcons in Week 9 and he went off.  Lock threw for 313 yards and scored three touchdowns.

Winston is coming off a season where he threw for 5,100 yards.  The Saints have the offensive weapons to help Jameis be very dangerous this weekend.  And aside from Michael Thomas and Alvin Kamara, Winston will also have offensive minded head coach Sean Payton.  Last week, when Winston came into finish the second half, he was asked to manage a conservative game plan.  He only threw for 62 yards, but this week, if he is named the starter, Payton is going to ask him to win a football game.  However the game script plays out, Jameis Winston can be productive.

If the Falcons come out of their bye week swinging than Winston may be asked to chuck the ball all over.  And even if the games script is positive then multiple touchdowns are in play because of the offensive weapons.  If you had Drew Brees on your roster, or if you have been streaming quarterbacks all year… look no further the Famous Jameis in Week 11.

Anyone that has followed Jameis Winston knows that he can make all the throws.  But unfortunately that also includes the throws that go to the opposing defenses.  Saying that Jameis is mistake-prone would be a severe understatement.  Even with all the bad plays Winston has posted very good fantasy seasons.  A big game this weekend is well within the realm of possibility especially given his Week 11 opponent.

On top of being a doormat for passing attacks, Atlanta is a familiar foe for Winston.  He has faced off against the Falcons many times before and that should help him on Sunday.  All his offensive weapons are looking like they will suit up so Winston will have his every chance to ball out.  I can imagine Jameis having a big game with Sean Payton.  However, Payton hasn’t yet named a starting quarterback yet so there is a chance Jameis Winston doesn’t play.  So given everything I will invest, but only with 49% confidence.

DJ Chark Jr Is a Top 15 WR in Week 11

The lead receiver in Jacksonville since Jake Luton took over at quarterback has undoubtedly been DJ Chark.  And yes you can say doo doo doo doo doo doo after reading DJ Chark.  I mean I do it pretty much every single time.  Since Luton has been installed as the quarterback of the Jaguars, which is two games, Chark has been on the field a lot.  He has had an 87% snap share.  Chark has also seen the most targets on the offense.  He has seen 17 targets which has resulted in 11 receptions for 202 receiving yards.

This weekend the Jags face off against the Pittsburgh Steelers.  At first glance, you would think that the Steelers pose a tough matchup because their defense is so good, but actually they only rank 23rd against wide outs this season.  The defense isn’t the only unit on Pittsburgh that will factor into DJ’s day.  Their offense has been firing on all cylinders.  Ben Roethlisberger specifically has been on fire the last two weeks.  Jacksonville’s defense is not what it used to be, so if the Steelers put up points then the Jags will have to play catch up and that’s where Chark can rack up the fantasy points.

Even if they are competitive Chark can shine, but if the game is a shootout then it is wheels-up for DJ Chark.  Last week did not go as well for the young wide receiver as most had hoped, but he still had 193 air yards, so Luton was still taking his shots to Chark.  You were more than likely always going to play Chark, but you should be starting with confidence.

Pittsburgh’s defense has been one of the best overall units in the entire NFL.  Even though the Steelers do not rank highly covering wide receivers as a whole, Joe Haden has been a very good number 1 cornerback.  In the 2020 season, Haden ranks fifth in pass break-ups, seventh in yards per target allowed, third in catch rate allowed, and fourth in coverage rating per playerprofiler.com.  Oh, and he ranks fourth in the league at fantasy points allowed per target.  I personally believe DJ Chark is a very good football player, but I am unsure if his quarterback is any good.  So, when factoring all this in…I’m OUT!

There you have it.  If you need a QB streamer, and Winston is named the starter, then get him in your lineup. Aand if you have someone else, maybe Week 11 is a good week to bench DJ Chark Jr.  Bench DJ Chark doo doo doo doo doo doo.
