Week 13 Fantasy Football Shark Tank

Our last episode was a Thanksgiving Day special.  If you make an exception for the COVID related postponements that sprouted in the Baltimore versus Pittsburgh matchup, the Shark was moneybags.  Staying away from Matthew Stafford proved correct because he wasn’t close to a Top 10 finisher.  The Shark was very hungry, and for good reason when it came to Amari Cooper finishing as a Top 15 wide receiver.  Investing with 89% confidence had massive returns.  Cooper was a Top 10 performer at the position.  This week the Shark will hear two proposals.  One involving a potential fantasy superstar just reminding general managers how good he is, and our wildest head-to-head proposal ever.

Jason Sanders Will Outscore Brandon Allen in Week 13

In week 13 the Miami Dolphins will host the Cincinnati Bengals, and one player from the Dolphins will outscore another player from the Bengals.  The reason why this has made its way to the Fantasy Football Shark Tank is because the Miami player is the team’s place kicker and the player on Cincinnati is the team’s starting quarterback.  First thing you check when evaluating a kicker in my opinion is location.  The location will let you know if it is outdoors, indoors, in hurricane conditions, etc.  Sunday’s game will take place in Miami Florida and the weather looks fantastic.  No surprise there.

Jason Sanders is one of the most productive kickers in the NFL.  In leagues that award bonuses for distance, Sanders is averaging 11 points per game and he has had highs of 22, 18, and 14 points.  Sanders has been one of the most reliable kickers in the league.  The Dolphin kicker has only missed a single field goal all season, which has been great for an offense that continues to improve.  Those improvements will lead to more and more attempts for the young kicker.

Joe Burrow missing the rest of the season is a major bummer for many reasons, and one of those reasons is having to watch Brandon Allen man the ship for the Bengals.  It is not often that a kicker outperforms a quarterback, let alone feel confident about that happening.  This Sunday Jason Sanders will have more fantasy points than QUARTERBACK Brandon Allen.

This is certainly an unusual proposal.  A kicker vs a quarterback has never been presented before.  Miami has a stellar defense in 2020 and should not see a lot of resistance from Brandon Allen.  The Dolphins rank ninth against quarterbacks and will benefit from the comforts of being the home team.  Allen is coming off a week where he only scored seven points hosting a meh Giants defense.  It is tough to see a scenario where the Bengals do much against the Fins, and the Miami offense should be smooth sailing to move the ball.  I will invest with 77% confidence.  And if Tua is the starter I would invest even more.

Austin Ekeler Finishes as a Top 3 Running Back in Week 13

After a long break, Austin Ekeler made his triumphant return in Week 12.  Fantasy football fans were reminded that Ekeler is super talented and this week they will be reminded that he is a fantasy football superstar.  After a six game lay off, he returned and was a weapon in the Chargers offense.  In his first game back from a hamstring injury, Austin Ekeler saw a snap share of 73%.  He racked up 25 touches.  Twenty-five touches, including 16 targets, are incredible for a guy returning from injury.  Ekeler was very productive with those chances and ended with 11 catches for 85 yards and rushed for 44 more yards.  The Chargers’ running back was also dangerously close to popping in two touchdowns.

This week the Los Angeles Chargers will host the New England Patriots.  Last week the Pats surrendered two rushing touchdowns to Kenyan Drake.  Currently they are the 14th ranked defense against running backs, so basically middle of the pack.  More specifically, the Patriots rank 25th in RB coverage DVOA according to Football Outsiders, so if Ekeler sees that amount of opportunities again he will feast.  Ekeler hasn’t been back for long, but in Week 13 he will remind anyone who may have forgotten that he is one of the best running backs in all the land.  That reminder will come in the form of a Top 3 running back performance.

The New England Patriots will do their best to slow down the Chargers offense.  Even though they haven’t been the unit that they have been in the past, the Pats are still formidable.  What Belichick likes to do is to take away the teams most dangerous weapons.  Will that be Austin Ekeler?  Doesn’t seem like that they will do that, but you can never know when it comes to New England.  Their defense has been a run funnel defense.  They will let running backs get yards with the idea to stop them from ultimately scoring touchdowns.

The Pats are also bad against deep balls this year, like one of the worst.  There are certainly scenarios where Mike Williams gets tackled on the 1-yard line and Ekeler scores an easy one.  I will invest, but not a ton, because Ekeler can still be good, but not be a top 3 finisher at the position.  Let’s go with 51% because I still want ownership, because Ekeler scoring enough to be the best RB is possible.

Austin Ekeler is a lock to be in your lineups, but will he be a Top 3?  The Shark is mildly confident in that notion.  And if your kicker Jason Sanders will have a more productive fantasy day than quarterback Brandon Allen.  I don’t know exactly what you can do with that information except make sure Sanders is in your lineup if you can.  And by no circumstances play Brandon Allen, does not matter if you play 2QB or Superflex.  Insert shrug emoji…see you next week!
