Red Sox Podcast to be Named Player Outlook:

Heading into the 2021 season, it will be easy for Red Sox fans to elevate Dalbec based off last season.  Despite the Bill James projections, it would be wise to temper expectations a bit with him.

There is tremendous power potential for Dalbec,  He’s been hitting home runs at every level of the minor leagues.  He has been one of their most productive bats, which earned him the call up last season.  The one concern is he strikeouts a lot.

FanGraphs rates his Raw Power, or power potential, as 70 on the 20-80 scale.  While the power is there for him, so are strikeouts.  His strikeout rate was high in the minors and might increase as he plays everyday in the major leagues.

The young power-hitting prospect will be fun to watch in 2021, especially if he produces to the level of the Bill James projections.  If he can keep the strikeouts under control, look for Dalbec to be a potential Rookie of the Year candidate because of his thunderous bat and a power option in the middle of the lineup.
