After missing the entire 2020 campaign due to COVID-19, E-Rod will be the ace to start the year.  The left hander is said to be healthy and ready to pitch in 2021.  It is safe to say that Red Sox Nation is happy to have Rodríguez back in action.

Red Sox Podcast to be Named Player Outlook:

Eduardo Rodríguez is the favorite to take the hill on Opening Day for the Boston Red Sox.  He is easily the longest tenured starter and the most accomplished.  Until Chris Sale returns anyway.  It was a real bummer that he was so badly affected by coronavirus last year.  E-Rod was coming off of a season where he was able to throw over 200 innings.

If El Gualo can stay healthy, it is easy to see him have a strong season.  E-Rod is pitching for a fat contract after this year and nothing motivates players like the chance to get that next contract.  He has been right around 9-10 K’s per nine and that should be expected again this year.  Eduardo’s career ERA is 4.03 but has been under that mark each of the last two seasons he has pitched.  If he performs like he did in 2019, he will be a major factor in this team’s success in 2021.  Either way, fans will be excited to have Rodríguez back in the fold.
