Welcome to the NHL: Bruins Goalie Dan Vladar Was Impressive Last Night

Dan Vladar was absolutely impressive last night in the Bruins 2-1 win over the Penguins.  The Bruins were coming off a 4-1 loss to the Penguins and have been struggling over the last couple of weeks.  The Bruins were able to get goals from David Pastrnak and the leader of the “Trent Frederic Fight Club” -  Trent Frederic.

The star of the game was Vladar, who stopped 34 of the 35 shots from the Penguins, including a beautiful stick save in the first period.  Penguins Colton Sceviour had a wide-open net, but the 6-foot-5 goalie threw his stick out and knocked the puck down in the air.

Vladar put on his best Dikembe Mutombo impression and waved his finger at the Penguins by saying “not in my house.”  The save by Vladar was one of the best saves made by a goaltender this season in the NHL.

Frederic was fired up for the Vladar save telling reporters, “Yeah, I got to see it live.  I haven’t got to see it replay.  It was pretty unreal.”  The shot by Sceviour looked like a sure fire goal, but Vladar used his wingspan to close the door.

“Once he did that I knew he was locked in.  We knew we had to get the win for him.  He’s really worked hard all the way to this point, and he really battled for us tonight,” said Frederic.

The Bruins young feisty winger Frederic wasn’t bad himself last night, he netted the game winner with 7:07 remaining in the third period.  Freddy gave them the lead, and hopefully the Bruins some momentum on their road trip.

Following the game, Vladar was all smiles in his postgame press conference.  “I’m just the happiest kid in the world right now,” said Vladar.  “It was always the dream to play in the NHL.  I got an opportunity and I won.  There hasn’t been a better day for me hockey-wise.”
Vladar was on cloud nine.  His genuine remarks showed how humble and excited he was for his first start, win and helping his team.  He was asked what he was going to do with the puck.  “I’m probably going to sleep with the puck tonight,” said Vladar. “I’m going to buy a safe so nobody can steal it from me.”

The young goalie was exactly what Boston needed him to be last night. He was able to play at a high level and helped get the Bruins a much needed two points. Vladar made a bold statement last night for the Black and Gold, now it's time this team begins to step up and play better moving forward.
