Boston Bruins Square Off Against the Capitals, Look to Rebound from 8-1 Loss Last Sunday

The Bruins and the Capitals have a key matchup this afternoon with playoff implications.  The two teams squared off last Sunday where the Capitals blew the doors off the TD Garden in an 8-1 beating of the Bruins.

Last Sunday, former captain Zdeno Chara made his return to Boston as a visitor.  The home coming was in favor of Chara and his Capitals.

This afternoon, the Bruins are coming off a win against the Islanders on Friday night.  New Bruins left winger Taylor Hall will play his fourth game with the team.

In three games with Boston he has two goals matching his season total with the Sabres.  The Bruins acquired Hall, Curtis Lazar and defenseman Mike Reilly following the blowout loss last Sunday.

Today will mark the seventh meeting between the two rivals.  The series is tied with three wins for both hockey clubs.

Tuukka Rask will be in net for the Bruins following rookie Jeremy Swayman’s shutout in his last start.

Cassidy also confirmed that defensemen Brandon Carlo, Matt Grzelcyk, and Kevan Miller will miss this game.

The puck will drop at noon as the Bruins will look to make it four in a row and grab two much needed points.
