NFL Mock Draft: The Final Mock

The NFL Draft is this week.  Here is my final Mock Draft:

1. Jacksonville Jaguars select:  Trevor Lawrence QB (CLEMSON)

Sunshine to JAX has been the case for a very long time

trevor lawrence made these throws -- which you've probably seen a million times already -- back to back in a game. if he isn't your QB1, you're overthinking it.— Steven Ruiz (@theStevenRuiz) April 19, 2021

2. New York Jets select:  Zach Wilson QB (BYU)

Mormon Mahomes to NY has been the case since they traded Sam Darnold to Carolina.

3. San Francisco 49ers select:  Mac Jones QB (BAMA)

Head coach Kyle Shanahan was rumored to be hot for Kirk Cousins. Mac Jones feels like a similar fit.

4. TRADE Denver Broncos (VIA Atlanta Falcons) select:  Trey Lance QB (ND ST)

Elway & Co have sent smoke screens about their love for Drew Lock.  Lance seems like the QB with the highest ceiling outside the Top 2. Denver moves up to get their QB.

5. Cincinnati Bengals select:  Penei Sewell OT (OREGON)

Ja’Marr Chase is certainly the sexier selection.  But Sewell is a future All-Pro.  Sometimes the most obvious choice is the best choice.

6. Miami Dolphins select:  Kyle Pitts TE (FLORIDA)

Rumors swirled that the Fins were very interested in the best TE prospect since Vernon Davis.  Making second trade to slide back into Top 10, meant something.  That something was Kyle Pitts.

7. Detroit Lions select:  Ja’Marr Chase WR (LSU)

Lions have been linked to a wide out all off season.  Chase falling to 7 makes the decision easy for Detroit.  They get their next top weapon for Jared Goff.

8. Carolina Panthers select:  Rashawn Slater OT (NORTHWESTERN)

The offensive tackle is a stud and the Panthers want to do right by new signal caller, Sam Darnold.

9. TRADE Atlanta Falcons (VIA Denver Broncos) select: DeVonta Smith WR (BAMA)

Rumors are getting louder about a Julio Jones trade.  I think this sets up the new duo of Bama wide recievers.

10. TRADE New England Patriots (VIA Dallas Cowboys) select:  Justin Fields QB (OHIO ST)

This idea of drafting Justin Fields (who was conscious QB 2 for the past year) with the 10th selection is too good to pass on.  The price becomes doable for Bill Belichick to move up.   And the Cam Newton mentorship seems very smart for NE.

11. New York Giants select:  Jaylen Waddle WR (BAMA)

Now that the big 5 QB’s are off the board, NY doesn’t find a trade partner.  Been looking for a WR and Waddle being available works for the Giants.

12. Philadelphia Eagles select:  Elijah Moore WR (OLE MISS)

Eagles are on the prowl for a WR.  Missed out on the top 3 but decide to take the player that has climbed the boards of many scouts.

13. Los Angeles Chargers select:  Christian Darrisaw OT (VT)

Just makes too much sense for LAC to take the best OT available.

14. Minnesota Vikings select:  Kwity Paye EDGE (MICHIGAN)

Vikings need a pash rusher, some believe Paye is the best in the class.  Vikings make the easy pick.

15. TRADE Dallas Cowboys (VIA NE Patriots) select:  Jaycee Horn CB (SC)

My best corner in the draft class.  Dallas needs a CB and trading back and selecting Horn is a plan A scenario.

16. Arizona Cardinals select:  Pat Surtain II CB (BAMA)

Cardinals replace their long-term CB 1 Pat Peterson with another and equally as talent Pat.

17. Oakland Raiders select:  Micah Parsons LB (PENN ST)

The Parsons slide stops at 17.  Raiders need a lot but starting off with the very talented Parsons makes a ton of sense.

18. Miami Dolphins select:  Alijah Vera-Tucker OT/G (USC)

Dolphins make the sexy pick at 6 and make the sensible pick at 18. Vera-Tucker is super versatile and that fits with the Patriots south squad.

19. Washington Football Team select:  Rashod Bateman WR (MINN)

Terry Mac, Curtis Samuel and Rashod Bateman give Ryan Fitzmagick the weapons to do damage.

20. Chicago Bears select:  Rondale Moore WR (PURDUE)

Moore brings the electric speed to pair with Allen Robinson and company. Dalton gets his deep threat.

Watch out for Rondale Moore 👀

21. Indianapolis Colts select:  Jaelan Phillips EDGE (MIAMI)

Colts could use a good pash rusher and Phillips fits the bill.

22. Tennessee Titans select:  Caleb Farley CB (VT)

Titans need a corner that can handle the opposing WR 1.  Farley’s stock has fallen but not past Tennessee at 22.

23. TRADE Tampa Bay Buccaneers (VIA NY Jets) select:  Christian Barmore DI (BAMA)

Tampa Bay is all in with Tom Brady.  Bucs decide to get ahead of Cleveland and select the monster in the middle of the D-line.

24. Pittsburgh Steelers select:  Teven Jenkins OT (OK ST)

Offensive line is a position of need and Jenkins is a monster in the run game. Check & check.

25. Jacksonville Jaguars select:  Trevon Moehrig S (TCU)

Moehrig fills a need and luckily for JAX no one traded in front of them to get the best safety in the class.

26. Cleveland Browns select:  Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah LB (NOTRE DAME)

Browns bolster their defense and grab a very talented linebacker.

27. Baltimore Ravens select:  Kadarius Toney WR (FLORIDA)

Toney could be the underneath threat that helps Hollywood get open deep. Get Lamar some more weapons.

Favorite slo-mo clip of 2021 draft cycle. Don’t see any way @GatorsFB WR Kadarius Toney makes it out of first round next Thursday. Playmaking potential is special in @0fficialC2N. ⚡️🕹💪— Jim Nagy (@JimNagy_SB) April 20, 2021

28. New Orleans Saints select:  Terrace Marshall Jr. WR (LSU)

Marshall Jr could finally be that WR 2 to complement Michael Thomas.

29. Green Bay Packers select:  Asante Samuel CB (FSU)

Green Bay miss out on the Round 1 tier of wide outs.  Samuel fits their ever-improving defense.

30. Buffalo Bills select:  Azeez Ojulari EDGE (GEORGIA)

Ojulari has a high ceiling and is too good to pash up for the defensive minded head ball coach.

31. Baltimore Ravens select:  Gregory Roussea EDGE (MIAMI)

Baltimore always finds the gems that slip in drafts. Rousseau is exactly that.

32. TRADE New York Jets (VIA TB Buccaneers) select:  Landon Dickerson C (BAMA)

Jets have their new franchise QB and the general of their offensive line.  And they grab an extra 2022 Round 1 pick.  Not a bad draft for the Jets.
