Boston Bruins: Craig Smith Shines in Double-Overtime Scoring a Video Game Wrap-Around-the-Net Style Goal

The Boston Bruins and Washington Capitals best-of-seven first round playoff series has come down to overtime in each game.  Game 3 on Wednesday night in Boston needed double-overtime to figure out a winner.

Bruins forward Craig Smith would end the game scoring the game winner against Ilya Samsonov.  Smith’s hustle is what lead to the game winner after Samsonov and defenseman Justin Schultz were lackadaisical with the puck in their own end.

Smith fought for the puck behind the net and he made a wrap around the net goal.  The game winner was reminiscent of a goal you would score as a kid playing Sega Genesis’ NHL 94.

“I circled back into the zone.  I don’t know if there was a miscommunication between them.  It kind of looked like that.  I just jumped on it to see if I could create a little bit of a turnover there.  And they gave me just enough time to do that,” said Smith.  “It was a great feeling any time you can end one like that.”

The goal was Smith’s first of the playoffs and looked good on Boston’s second line.  He also added an assist on the Taylor Hall beauty earlier in the game.  He finished with two points, a plus-2, six shot attempts, three hits and three blocked shots in 22:17 on the ice.
